CHOM is a hand’s-on, play-based children’s museum located in Freeport, IL. With 15 interactive exhibits, CHOM is an ideal destination for family and school visits, and birthday parties too. CHOM is a nonprofit organization and opened it’s doors on March 22, 2019. Thanks to thousands of volunteer hours, along with many donations from individuals and businesses, we welcomed 500 guests our first weekend open. Behind all of the work that went into this museum is a fantastic board. Pictured above are the current board members.

At CHOM, we understand that play is critical to child development. We know that play benefits children socially, emotionally, and intellectually. It is important to offer places where kids are in charge of their own learning. We invite you to visit us and hope that you will consider purchasing a family membership.

We are excited about finishing up our play restaurant area and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our large items that will go in the sensory room. Check back frequently as exhibits are evolving weekly.

In the upcoming months CHOM will begin offering different programs and events. We want to encourage parent-child interaction in a space that promotes creativity, social skills, motor skills, and problem solving.

Come visit us soon and be amazed at the power of play!
