2020 began as a year of excitement and anticipated growth. In March, we were about to celebrate our 1st year anniversary at our Lincoln Mall location when the coronavirus shut down occurred. Like so many Children’s museums around the country, we were forced to close our doors temporarily.

Unfortunately, “temporarily” has lasted a bit longer than anyone wanted, but for the life and health of the children and families who visit CHOM, closing was the right thing to do.

But like many Children’s museums around the country who have successfully reopened with proper safety procedures in place, we are also looking at viable ways to re-open. We believe with pre-registration, temperature checks, timed-entry, managed social distancing, and a temporarily condensed exhibit floor plan, among other health and safety precautions, we can reopen at the beginning of the year while protecting not only our guests, but also our staff and volunteers.
Our mission is to inspire all children and families to learn, explore, and create through interactive experiences. We know families in our region are eager to see The Children’s Hands-On Museum of Northwest Illinois reopen, but only if we are taking the proper precautions to stay safe. We need your help.

To help us reach our goal for a grand re-opening this new year, your gifts will help us obtain the resources and equipment that will help parents feel comfortable about returning and give them the opportunity to enjoy the fun and learning experience of our museum.
