Overview

The Executive Director of the Children’s Hands-On Museum of NW IL, working closely with the Board of Directors, understands, supports, and promotes the mission of the organization. The Executive Director is responsible for implementing plans and policies authorized by the board, developing organizational and financial plans, and programs. This individual oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization.

The Executive Director reports directly to and communicates fully and frequently with the Board of Directors. The Executive Director has the operational authority to carry out the duties and responsibilities assigned by the Board of Directors within the framework of policies, plans, and budget.

The Executive Director is accountable to the entire Board through the Board President. The Executive Director is expected to attend Board meetings, fundraising and public relations activities. Required skills include: grant writing, exceptional customer service, problem solving, organizational management, strategic planning, budget/fiscal familiarity, marketing and communications.

The Children’s Hands-On Museum is a not-for-profit interactive play and learning space, offering a wide range of educational exhibits and activities for children of all ages. The Children’s Hands-On Museum is located in Freeport, Illinois.

Job Type: Part Time – Full Time (Average 25 hours per week)

Salary: $30,000/yr  ($600/wk)

Experience:

  • Nonprofit Experience: 3 years minimum (Required)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s (Required)

Location:

  • Freeport, IL

Schedule:

  • Days, Evenings & Weekends as necessary
